Mira adalah wanita cantik dengan pesona alami. Wajahnya bersih tanpa riasan berlebih, matanya teduh, dan langkahnya anggun membuat orang sengaja menoleh. Meski seorang janda, Mira dikenal menjaga kehormatannya. Ia pandai membatasi pergaulan, tak pernah ada cerita buruk tentangnya. Namun, seminggu terakhir ia merasa tidak sehat sakit kepala, mual, dan nyeri saat buang air kecil. Dokter Puskesmas menyarankan tes urine untuk mengetahui penyebabnya.
Di klinik kecil, Mira menyerahkan urinenya untuk diperiksa. Hasilnya ia bawa ke dokter dengan perasaan cemas. Ketika dokter membaca laporan itu, Mira mendapat ucapan selamat dengan kehamilan telah berjalan enam minggu. Kata-kata itu seperti petir di siang bolong. Ia tahu hidupnya begitu dijaga kehormatannya tak memungkinkan hal itu. Hamil? Tidak mungkin.
“Sejak kapan buah mentimun bisa membuat seorang wanita hamil?” pikirnya. Mira menggenggam kertas itu erat, benaknya berkecamuk. Dengan sempoyongan Mira berjalan pulang tak mendengar lagi suara panggilan petugas laboratorium yang ingin menjelaskan kesalahan baca hasil pemeriksaan yang tertukar.
