Saat pandemi melanda, semua menjadi sunyi. Sekolah tutup, warung sepi, dan pasar hanya tinggal suara pelan. Ibu Rika yang biasa menjahit seragam sekolah pun kehabisan pesanan. Tapi ia tak tinggal diam. Dari sisa kain perca, ia mulai menjahit masker kain, satu per satu, dengan pola sederhana dan benang yang sudah hampir habis. Ia membagikannya ke tetangga yang tak mampu membeli, lalu membuka lapak kecil di depan rumah.
Lama-lama pesanan berdatangan. Bukan hanya masker, tapi juga baju APD sederhana untuk relawan. Ia tak pernah belajar desain kesehatan, tapi ia tahu; yang penting bukan sempurna, tapi niat menolong. Di tengah krisis, rumahnya jadi tempat berkumpul ibu-ibu lain yang ingin membantu. Mereka menjahit, membungkus, menempelkan doa dalam setiap lipatan kain.
Dan ketika jalanan kembali ramai dan masker tak lagi langka, ibu Rika tetap menyimpan satu di laci mejanya, bukan untuk dipakai lagi, tapi sebagai pengingat, “Perempuan bisa jadi pelindung, bahkan ketika dunia sedang takut bernapas.”
