Tomia adalah sebuah pulau yang dikelilingi pantai. Pantai-pantai indah membingkai bibir pulau Tomia sejauh mata memandang. Pulau dan pantai bak tubuh dan jantung tidak bisa dipisahkan menyatu menjadi satu panorama yang memukau. Sangat memanjakan mata.
Salah satu pantai itu adalah Pantai Lakota Tomia yang berlokasi di jalan Waha – Waitti, Kelurahan Waha, Kecamatan Tomia, Kabupaten Wakatobi, Sulawesi Tenggara.
Alam sangat bermurah hati. Pantai Lakota sudah indah dari dahulu, punya hamparan pasir putih, desiran ombak, dan lambaian pohon nyiur. Punya laut berwarna biru, elang laut yang mengitari pantai, burung camar yang berseliwieran, dan tebing-tebing karang yang kokoh anggun menahan gempuran ombak. Panorama laut yang sempurna.
Dari dahulu pun masyarakat setempat bersama keluarga dan sahabat suka duduk di Pantai Lakota untuk menikmati fajar menyingsing di pagi hari atau menikmati senja di sore hari. Sekedar berenang merasakan hangatnya air laut. Letaknya berbatasan dengan pemukiman memungkinkan untuk diakses kapan saja.
Dalam perkembangan selanjutnya, Pantai Lakota menjadi salah satu tujuan wisata, setelah Wakatobi dijadikan tujuan wisata internasional. Potensi Pantai Lakota dikembangkan lebih tertata, menjadi lebih nyaman, aman, bersih, dan lebih indah oleh pemerintah.
Ketika saya mengunjunginya, saya berjalan ke pesisir ujung barat. Pantai Lakota berada tepat di pesisir ujung Barat dari Onemay. Onemay adalah ibukota kecamatan Tomia. Inilah tempat yang teramai di Pulau Tomia. Dengan fasilitas hotel dan warung makan yang sudah tersedia.
Onemay. kota tua kecil yang padat penduduk. Kota yang didiami oleh masyarakat pesisir maupun yang berasal dari kawasan perbukitan berbaur secara harmonis. Mereka suku Buton asli yang menggunakan Bahasa Tomia dalam berkomunikasi, dan mengenal keterampilan menenun dan mengayam.
Onemay dipenuhi ratusan rumah penduduk. Jalanannya tertata rapi berpetak-petak segi empat. Rumah-rumah berbanjar dengan rapi mengisi petak-petak itu, berjejer sepanjang jalan dari Timur ke Barat.

Di ujung tanjakan sebelah barat terdapat titik pertemuan dari lima jalur jalanan yang berasal dari arah: Tomia Timur, Onemay, Dermaga batu, dan Tangga Timur Onemay. Titik pertemuan ini dinamakan “Simpang Lima Tomia,” tepat disitu dibangun tugu kecil, sebagai simbol ‘’Tugu Selamat Datang.’’
Dari simpang lima, saya sudah dapat memandang Pantai Lakota. Dari jauh sudah terlihat lautnya yang biru, kapal-kapal nelayan yang ada diparkir di sepanjang pantai dengan tiang-tiang yang menunjuk langit serta tulisan ‘’Pantai Lakota.’’
Ketika saya sudah tiba di Pantai Lakota. Pada pelataran dengan desain konstruksi masa kini yang bertuliskan ‘’PANTAI LAKOTA,’’ banyak pengunjung yang memantaskan diri berfoto dengan latar belakang tulisan Pantai Lakota.
Telah dilakukan penataan lingkungan besar-besaran. Perbaikan akses jalanan yang luas dan dibeton di sekitar pantai dan fasilitas penunjang lain membuat Pantai Lakota menjadi semakin nyaman dan ramai dikunjungi oleh masyarakat lokal, pengunjung dalam dan luar negeri.
Pantai Lakota menjadi tempat berkumpul masyarakat Tomia dari sore bahkan sampai malam. Pantai Lakota diperlakukan ibarat sebagai alun-alun bagi masyarakat Tomia.
Suasananya sangat alami, pasir putih menyentuh telapak kaki dan meyisakan jejak. Angin pantai berhembus menyentuh wajah dan membawa aroma garam, daun nyiur tidak lelahnya berdesir mengipasi pantai mengusir rasa panas. Ombak berkejar-kejaran memecahkan diri di bibir pantai terus menerus tidak lelah menggempur tebing-tebing yang kokoh. Bunyinya menjadi simponi alam. Kapal-kapal nelayan terparkir dengan layar tergulung di dermaga menyusupkan rasa bangga sebagai anak pesisir penguasa lautan.

Semua dapat dinikmati dengan memilih duduk di atas tebing atau di bawah tebing menanti matahari tebenam sambil menghirup kopi dan menguyah makanan ringan yang ada dijajakan sepanjang bibir pantai.
Suara-suara gelak tawa anak-anak pesisir dan pengunjung yang datang mengisi udara. Aroma kebahagiaan menjalar kemana-mana.
Pantai Lakota menjadi kebanggaan sendiri bagi masyarakat Tomia. Tempat ini menjadi ikon masyarakat Tomia untuk berkumpul dan menghabiskan waktu sore sampai senja bahkan sampai malam hari.
